Figure 5.2: The foreign-born population of the United States. The smaller chart shows that 12.4 percent, or approximately 37.6 million, of the total U.S. population in 2010 (304.3 million) was born abroad. The larger chart shows that the majority of these people came from Latin America and Asia.
