Dave Duerson’s Brain Staining for tau protein highlights degenerating brain tissue (dark brown areas) in the frontal cortex and medial temporal lobe of these coronal sections through Duerson’s anterior right hemisphere. Damage to the subcortical basal ganglia in the sections’ central portions (yellowish areas) is sparse by comparison.
