Figure 34.9 Sieve Tubes Individual sieve tube elements join together to form long tubes that transport carbohydrates and other nutrient molecules throughout the plant body in the phloem. Sieve plates form at the ends of each sieve tube element, and phloem sap passes through the pores in the sieve plate.
