The pineal gland has a daily cycle of melatonin release

Humans like most vertebrate species have a pineal gland located between the cerebral hemispheres. The pineal has a daily rhythm of production and secretion of the hormone melatonin. The functions of the pineal and melatonin have to do with coordinating daily rhythms of physiological functions and, in many species, seasonal changes such as reproduction timing, migration, and preparations for environmental stress such as cold weather.
