Late medieval engraving of a paper mill, where workers are using the process developed by Muslim papermakers. At the right rear a cogged wooden wheel (probably driven by water) drives large wooden hammers that break up fibers, while in the foreground workers dip the screen of fibers in water and stack finished sheets.
