Assign primary source features to introduce students to historical interpretation.

Each chapter in LaunchPad for A History of Western Society features two types of primary source features: “Thinking Like a Historian” groups at least five sources around a central theme, with questions that guide students’ analysis of the evidence and a “Putting It All Together” assignment that asks them to synthesize the sources together with what they have learned in class; and “Evaluating the Evidence” features an individual source, with headnotes and questions that help students understand the source and connect it to the information in the rest of the chapter.
