CULTURAL STUDIES researchers are interested in the production, meaning, and audience response to a wide range of elements within communication culture, including the meaning of the recent trend of “dark” subject matter in young-adult novels like the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, or Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson.
