Female directors have long struggled in Hollywood, but some, like Kathryn Bigelow (shown), have made big names for themselves. Winning the 2010 Academy Award for The Hurt Locker, Bigelow has also Point Break (1991) and Zero Dark Thirty (2012) among her film credits.
