Questions for Study and Discussion
After watching the video, consider the questions below. Then submit your responses.
1. How does WIRED divide and classify the ingredients in coffee? What categories or principles do they use in the video?
2. The video includes a different animation for each ingredient. Choose the animation you think is the most effective. Then, describe the animation in detail and explain how it helps viewers better understand the ingredient.
3. The video uses a lot of obscure chemical names for substances, such as “dimethyl disulfide” and “acetylmethylcarbinol.” How does WIRED help the viewer understand these substances? Do you think they adequately explain each ingredient? Why or why not?
4. List all the things that make up a cup of coffee. Then divide the ingredients according to a principle that is different from WIRED’s. (For example, you could divide the ingredients into “healthy” and “unhealthy” categories, or “tasty” and “disgusting” categories.)
