WORKING WITH NATURE TO ENHANCE CARBON SINKS
FIGURE 14.41 Recent studies have revealed the potential of many terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems to act as carbon sinks. On land, agricultural ecosystems show great potential in this regard. In addition, the activities of keystone species, such as sea otters, can have substantial effects on rates of carbon sequestration in the ecosystems they occupy.
