Graphing Tutorial: Bar Graphs Walkthrough
Bar graphs are used when the independent variable you are testing is represented by discrete categories (e.g. blue, red, yellow; or small, medium, large) rather than a numerical sequence (e.g. 1,2,3,4…etc.).
- Click the green buttons on the screen to set the title for your graph and label the y- and the x-axes.
- Once you’ve entered your title and labeled the axes, a coordinate plane appears. Set the minimum and the maximum value for the y-axis. The minimum has to be greater than or equal to 0 and the maximum has to be less than or equal to 11000. No need to fill in the x axis since it is a bar graph.
- After you have set the minimum and the maximum values for y-axis, two entry boxes appear for you to add the titles for the categories and values to your bar chart.
- For "Category title", add the name for the category.
- For "Value", add a positive number within the range between the minimum and the maximum values for y-axis that you have set.
- Data should be entered without commas.
- When you have finished entering the data, click Done.
