Synopsis

Liz Mackean reports on the phenomenal amount of food simply thrown away by households in Great Britain. The disposal of food is waste management's biggest problem because the methane gas that food produces as it rots is more harmful to the atmosphere than carbon dioxide. Possible solutions are explored, such as cooking less food, having trash services collect food waste in separate bins, and converting food waste into biofuel.
