Introduction

Protein is a crucial part of your diet, regardless of your activity level. The building blocks of protein are found in your muscle, bone, hair, skin, and fingernails. Proteins also play important roles in facilitating chemical reactions, regulating body functions, maintaining fluid balance, promoting the immune system, and clotting blood. However, it is possible to consume too much protein.

In this activity, you will compare your level of protein intake to the accepted recommendations and consider how your consumption of protein affects your health.

This activity can be completed using the Analyze My Diet tool linked from your LaunchPad course or any dietary analysis software that provides the daily average amount of vitamins consumed.

To complete the activity using Analyze My Diet:

  • If you have not already completed the Analyze My Diet Tutorial and tracked at least one day’s nutrition and activity, do so first.
  • Within Analyze My Diet, go to the Reports tab.
  • Select “Bar Graph” on the left.
  • Select the day(s) that are a good representative of your typical diet.
  • Click “Show Report” to download your Nutrition Report.
  • Within the report, you will see the average eaten as both % and grams.

For more instructions and help using the Analyze My Diet Tool, please visit the help page.

Use the Nutrients Report to find your data and enter it into the grid below using only numerical values and decimal points (if needed). If a pink border appears around your entry, you have entered text that cannot be submitted, such as letters or special characters.
