Used properly in the delivery of a speech, the voice signals a speaker’s confidence and credibility and communicates meaning as he or she intends.1 With a bit of practice, you can learn to control each of the elements of vocal delivery—volume, pitch, speaking rate, pauses, vocal variety, and pronunciation and articulation—to deliver a successful speech.
