Robert Maranto is the 21st Century Chair in Leadership at the Department of Education Reform at the University of Arkansas and has written and edited several books, including A Guide to Charter Schools (2006) and School Choice in the Real World: Lessons from Arizona Charter Schools (2008). He has written extensively on education and education reform in journals and newspapers, such as the Teachers College Record, the American Journal of Education, the Washington Post, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the Baltimore Sun, and WallStreetJournal.com.

James V. Shuls is a doctoral academy fellow in the Department of Education Reform at the University of Arkansas. Shuls is a former first- and fifth-grade teacher.
