THINKING ABOUT YOUR REFLECTIVE LETTER OR STATEMENT
THINKING ABOUT YOUR REFLECTIVE LETTER OR STATEMENT
Think about your reading and writing for this course, bearing in mind the following general questions:
- How have my reading and writing skills improved?
- What things do I need to practice more before they are easy for me?
- What things might never be easy for me as a reader or writer? What might I always have to work hard to accomplish?
- What should I really practice more in my future college classes?
- What themes or ideas seem to reoccur in my writing? What does that say about me as a writer? As a person?
- What types of reading make me most curious and eager to write? What does that say about my interests and strengths?
- What things have I learned about reading and writing that I haven’t yet successfully applied in my essays?
- What were some of my biggest mistakes in the reading or writing processes? What have I learned from these mistakes?
- How would someone describe my writing style? Have I developed a personal “voice” as a writer yet?
- What is my biggest accomplishment so far?
As you draft a reflective letter, do not feel limited by these questions. You do not need to address all of them, but you should at least touch on those you find most relevant. Try to provide specific examples from your work.
