WRITING YOUR REFLECTIVE LETTER OR STATEMENT
The reflective letter or statement should be just that, a reflection. It does not have to have a formal academic style. Unless your instructor specifies otherwise, it can be addressed to the instructor or to yourself. (Some instructors might even ask you to address it to your future self.) As you write the reflective letter, choose specific examples from each of the pieces in the portfolio to serve as examples of points you want to make. You may even want to quote some of your own writing. Go ahead. Develop your ideas fully, and end the reflective letter with some general concluding thoughts, such as those inspired by the last two questions in the list above. As always, make sure that you edit your writing carefully so that it reflects your best effort.
