Something to Think About...

Familiarizing yourself with the structure of an APA-style report can help you focus your energy when you read and comprehend research articles in other classes. You will be able to quickly deduce which section of an article has the specific information you need.

Although, in the future, you may not need to use APA style in particular, you will likely have to do some form of formal or technical writing in your career. Learning APA style will help you practice attending to the formatting details that many styles of writing require. This skill will help you stand out from your coworkers.

This placement is correct. While the content of the running head (in this case, “MEDIA AND COLLEGE PERCEPTIONS”) appears on every page of the report, the words “Running head:” only appear on the title page. Your running head cannot be longer than 50 characters and should be in ALL CAPS.
This placement is correct. The title page is page 1 of the research report, and a page number will continue to appear in this placement on each page of the report.
This placement is correct. The report title should summarize the main idea of your research report in 10−12 words.
This placement is correct. Your name should appear centered on the page, under the title. If you are collaborating on this research report with others, list the names in order of contribution to the article.
This placement is correct. Under each author’s name, provide the person’s institutional affiliation. There is no need to add the department name or any other affiliation information.
This is not the correct place for this piece of information. Try again.
