Eight months after David Tarloff committed murder, the judge hearing the case declared Tarloff unfit to stand trial. Tarloff was sent to a psychiatric facility (Eligon, 2008). His 2013 trial was declared a mistrial because the jury was deadlocked about whether he was not guilty by reason of insanity (Buettner & Goodman, 2013). In prison, he awaits a new trial.
