One criticism of DSM-5 is that social factors that contribute to psychological disorders—such as being laid off from work, which apparently was the case for this man—are not incorporated into the diagnosis (Greenberg, 2013). This doesn’t mean to imply that this man, who was looking for help in Los Angeles, has a disorder.
