Woman’s Suffrage Campaigners Two respectably attired middle-class suffragists from Long Island, New York, drove this cart to Boston to campaign for woman’s suffrage. The boys standing behind the cart suggest the ridicule suffragists often encountered. One suffragist said driving the cart allowed them to stop frequently to explain their cause “to farmers and people in small towns.”
