Alice Moore Campaigns for the School Board Alice Moore’s 1976 campaign for reelection to the Kanawha County Board of Education emphasized moral issues and attacked government bureaucrats and expenditures. Her first campaign’s slogan had been “We need a mother on the board of education.” She bore her fifth child while on the board, but one of the policies she championed prohibited pregnant girls from attending high school because she considered them “disruptive.”
