Two Rebel Leaders A Boston almanac of 1787 portrayed Daniel Shays (on the left) with another rebel leader, Job Shattuck, thought to be ringleaders in the rebellion against excessive taxation in Massachusetts. It is unlikely the artist ever saw either man. The cannon and drawn swords suggest the men are serious threats. This particular almanac series was pro-Constitution in 1788, so likely this picture is not meant to be sympathetic to the Shaysites.
