The first book printed in what is now the United States, this copy of The Whole Book of Psalmes Faithfully Translated into English Metre was published in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1640. Worshippers used this book to sing psalms, celebrating God’s Truth with an unadorned chorus of voices. The words of the famous twenty-third psalm begin near the bottom of the left-hand page.
