LINCOLN’S LOG CABIN AND SPRINGFIELD HOME
Abraham Lincoln grew up in Indiana between 1816 and 1830, where he, his father, stepmother, and assorted kinfolk lived in the log cabin shown here. After becoming a successful lawyer in Springfield, Illinois, Lincoln and his wife, Mary, moved into the home shown here, which highlights the opportunities the free-labor system offered to all Americans, according to Lincoln.
