Problems with Verb Tense

Verb tense tells when an action happened: in the past, in the present, or in the future. Verbs change their form or use the helping verbs have, be, or will to indicate different tenses.

PRESENT TENSE Rick hikes every weekend.
PAST TENSE He hiked 10 miles last weekend.
FUTURE TENSE He will hike again on Saturday.

LANGUAGE NOTE: Remember to include needed endings on present-tense and past-tense verbs, even if they are not noticed in speech.

PRESENT TENSE Nate listens to his new iPod wherever he goes.
PAST TENSE Nate listened to his iPod while he walked the dog.
