Choosing between Adjectives and Adverbs

Many adverbs are formed by adding -ly to the end of an adjective.

ADJECTIVE She received a quick answer.
ADVERB Her sister answered quickly.

To decide whether to use an adjective or an adverb, find the word being described. If that word is a noun or pronoun, use an adjective. If it is a verb, adjective, or another adverb, use an adverb.
