Exploring Your Topic

Prewriting techniques can give you ideas at any time during your writing: to find a topic, to get ideas for what you want to say about it, and to support your ideas. Ask yourself: What interests me about this topic? What do I know? What do I want to say? Then, use one or more of the prewriting techniques to find the answers.

PREWRITING TECHNIQUES

When prewriting, your goal is to come up with as many ideas as possible. Do not say, “Oh, that’s stupid” or “That won’t work.” Just get your brain working by writing down all the possibilities.
