In narration, support demonstrates the main point — what’s important about the story.

The paragraph and essay models in “Paragraphs vs. Essays in Narration” use the topic sentence (paragraph) and thesis statement (essay) from the Main Point section of this chapter. (The thesis statement has been revised slightly.) Both models include the support used in all narration writing — major events backed up by details about the events. In the essay model, however, the major support points (events) are topic sentences for individual paragraphs.
