Prom Fashions

When she was a student at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM), Leigh King used the skills she learned in her introduction-to-writing course to start a fashion blog. Blogging helped Leigh get noticed in the competitive world of New York City fashion, where she got an internship at Teen Vogue magazine. Leigh is now a self-employed fashion writer and blogger. Below is part of an e-mail that Leigh sent to colleagues about upcoming blog posts.

Now that we’re on the eve of prom season, I am going to be writing about some of the most eye-catching prom fashions:

  • Dresses: The newest looks range from classic and romantic, to glittery and modern, to vintage. And the new styles come in a variety of colors, from understated cream, to striking black and white, to candy colors or pastels.
  • Clutch purses: There are plenty of new looks to choose from, including purses made of bold-patterned fabrics or accented with stylish beading.
  • Shoes: No matter what style of dress a prom-goer chooses, there are beautiful shoes to go with it: ballet flats, chunky wooden heels, heels with jewels or bows, and more.
