Paint Me What You’re Feeling Thirteen-year-old Alyssia Crook uses her left leg and foot to create a painting during an art therapy session. This photo was taken less than 2 weeks before Crook, who suffers from a rare disease called pterygium syndrome, had part of her left leg amputated. Art therapy is an approach that uses art to help people understand, express, and deal with their emotions in a constructive way (American Art Therapy Association, 2015).
