Chapter Wrapup

Satellite remote sensing is a powerful tool for everything from covert surveillance to the monitoring of land use and land cover. The next chapter delves into a new set of geospatial satellite tools—the Earth Observing System, a series of orbital environmental satellites that continuously gather data about global processes. Geospatial Lab Application 11.1 returns to the subject of using MultiSpec, and it has you doing more with Landsat imagery and the multispectral capabilities of the TM sensor. Before you get to the lab, check out the resources in the Apps, Blogs, and Social Media box for Facebook pages and Twitter accounts related to many of this chapter’s concepts as well as a few YouTube videos that show off various satellite remote sensing applications.
