In this clip, 21-year-old, Nicholas, discusses his attempts to change his confidence and approach toward other people. As you watch, consider the extent to which you think that individuals can change behavioral patterns and personality traits because they have decided to do so.
The notion of the active child is one of the enduring themes you will revisit throughout your study of child development. To what extent do you think Nicholas could have modified his behavior and attitudes simply because he elected to do so? In what ways could his conscious efforts to modify his behavior and attitudes have influenced his own development?
