Sagittarius A*, at the very center of the Galaxy, is one of the brightest radio sources in the sky. Magnetic fields shape nearby interstellar gas into immense, graceful arches. (b) This composite of images at X-ray wavelengths from 0.16 nm to 0.62 nm shows lobes of gas on either side of Sagittarius A*. The character of the X-ray emission shows that the gas temperature is as high as 2 × 107 K.
