Visual cues can help readers see at a glance the structure of an argument. Screen shots, for example, are often used in reviews of films, Web sites, and games to illustrate each topic, or element, of the writer’s evaluation. Given that his evaluation is based primarily on the idea that LA Noire succeeds because it looks and feels like a film, it is logical for Boxer to provide screen shots that show how cinematic the game is, but do these screen shots also help make the organization of the review clear and logical?
Another visual cue Boxer uses is headings. Writers sometimes use headings to make it easy for readers to follow a long and complicated argument. Boxer’s review, however, is neither long nor especially complicated. Why do you think he uses headings?
