subject The part of a clause that identifies who or what is being discussed.
verb A word or phrase that expresses action or being and, along with a subject, is a basic component of a sentence.
In English, every sentence, with rare exceptions, should have both a subject and a verb.
If your native language allows you to omit either subject or verb, check your drafts carefully to be sure that you include both in your writing. Supply both a subject and a verb in each sentence, but do not repeat the subject or other words that duplicate grammatical functions.
