IN A MEMORABLE STATEMENT, philosopher Hannah Arendt confirms what many people feel about collaboration: “For excellence, the presence of others is always required.” The old maxim that two heads are better than one seems to be especially true in today’s world of digital communication. Feedback is more visible than ever; today’s writers expect and want reactions to their posts, messages, and updates. And thanks to collaborative tools that allow writers anywhere to work on a single document, working on a group project has never been more feasible. Still, successful collaboration requires special attention.
