CONSIDERING DISABILITIES: ACCOMMODATING DIFFERENCES

When you are working with other members of your class to share files for peer review or other group activities, remember to consider differences group members may have. Think of such differences not only in terms of computer compatibility but also in terms of the sensory, physical, or learning abilities of yourself and your classmates. You may have colleagues who wish to receive printouts in a very large type size, for example, in order to read them with ease. Similarly, you may have a peer who prefers to share files early to read the material or avoid the stress of last-minute preparation. You may have a peer who uses a voice screen reader. Help your group get off to a good start by making a plan to accommodate everyone’s needs.
