Chapter 12: Evaluating Sources and Taking Notes

CHAPTER 12
Evaluating Sources and Taking Notes

CONNECT: What source do you need to summarize for your research project? 12c, 13d

CREATE: Draft a summary of your source.

REFLECT: Respond to Tony Chan's annotated bibliography or to Nandita Sriram's reflective annotated bibliography.

WITH MOST TOPICS, your problem will not be so much finding sources as figuring out which sources to consult in the limited time you have available. The difference between a useful source and a poor one depends to a great extent on your topic, purpose, and audience. Learning how to tell which sources are best for you allows you to use your time wisely. Once you’ve found good sources, taking effective notes allows you to use the insights you find to your greatest advantage.
