Reread your entire outline, this time carefully considering the language you will use to express your ideas. Effective word choice (also called diction) can help make your speech much more memorable and engaging for listeners. When preparing your speech, select words that your audience will understand, use precise terms to express your ideas, and choose language that makes your speech come alive. Focus on simplifying your sentences—remember, audiences cannot reread parts of your speech if they become confused. Finally, be sure to avoid biased language that may hurt others or damage your credibility.
