Pick a speech topic and create a linked attention-getter and clincher for a speech on that topic. Next, think of what could be the speech’s main points, and create themed transitions connecting the points.

Look back at the illustration on page 278. For a speech on James Bond, think of an example for each of the seven types of attention-getters in the introduction, and create an example of each of the four types of clinchers for the conclusion.
