Your audience members will devote valuable time to listening to your speech. In return, you owe them a presentation they will find interesting and important.
Based on your preliminary audience analysis (see Chapter 5), determine your listeners’ priorities and backgrounds. The topic you select should meet one or more of the following criteria:
It will interest your audience.
It is something your listeners need to know about—
It will likely inspire, entertain, or emotionally move your audience.
