Your audience members’ knowledge and interests can be useful in helping you choose the best possible supporting materials. For example, suppose you want to persuade your listeners to volunteer for community service. If your audience consists of future teachers, you might offer examples and narratives about service opportunities with young children. Or if many of your listeners enjoy outdoor activities, your supporting materials could relate more to environmental service.
