Do an Internet search as well as an academic database search on your speech topic. List, skim, and briefly describe the first five results of each kind of search. How do the source results compare? Which appears more reliable? Why?

With a topic provided by your instructor, do an Internet search using one of the most common search engines, and find a source. Your task is not to find a credible source but rather the most unreliable piece of information or web page that you can. Be sure to list all the reasons why the source is not to be trusted, and share your terrible find with the class.

With a classmate, discuss your impending speech topic. Then, in no more than five minutes, come up with three good questions to ask your classmate about his or her topic that you would not be able to find the answers to yourself. When your instructor gives you the cue, interview your classmate, being careful to practice active listening.Share what you discussed with your classmate.
