SLAVERY FOOTPRINT
Slavery Footprint, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the eradication of slavery, was started by former musician Justin Dillon. After playing benefit concerts, Dillon made a 2008 documentary called CALL+RESPONSE, which featured benefit-concert footage and interviews with artists, activists, and politicians including Moby, Cornel West, and Madeleine Albright. After his documentary was successfully released, the U.S. State Department enlisted Dillon to help spread the word about human trafficking and slavery. This resulted in a Web-based quiz that allowed people to see how their lives were inadvertently supporting slavery. In 2012, Dillon produced another movie, this time with hip-hop artist Common. In Common Dreams, Dillon and Common traveled to Haiti to investigate the lives of children working as domestic servants.
