The graphic organizer in Figure 21.2 will help you analyze arguments as well as plan those that you write. Unlike the graphic organizers in Chapters 11-19, this organizer does not necessarily show the order in which an argument is presented. Some arguments, for example, may begin with a claim, whereas others may start with evidence or opposing viewpoints. In addition, not every element will appear in every argument. Thus you will likely need to adapt this organizer to fit the essays you analyze and write. (For more on creating a graphic organizer, see Chapter 3.)
