“Chums” This American war poster from 1918 depicts the devil seated with his arm around Germany’s Kaiser Wilhelm, a devil-like figure himself who holds a bloody sword. The devil is congratulating Wilhelm for sinking the Lusitania three years earlier. The poster left no doubt that America was on the side of the angels and did the right thing by going to war.
