The Segway Personal Transporter (PT) website offers an excellent mechanism description. In this case, you will study the site and the accompanying product descriptions and videos to analyze the strategies and technologies employed. Then you will write a memo presenting your findings.
To complete this case, perform the following tasks:
- Study Chapter 20. You might also want to review Chapter 12 on graphics.
- Study the Segway website. To gain an understanding of the contents and organization of the site, you might want to view the site map.
- Identify the different audiences and purposes of the site. What categories of readers are addressed? What different purposes are the authors trying to achieve?
- Think about the website as an example of the use of technology. The site is sophisticated, with lots of animation and video. What functions do these technologies fulfill on the site? How effectively are they used? Do they help the authors convey their messages better than static graphics or documents?
- Write a 1,000-word memo to your instructor that contains your findings.
