Chapter 20, Additional Exercise 9: Evaluating Instructions for Folding Attic Stairs
According to its site, Memphis Folding Stairs is the world's largest producer of folding attic stairs, the kind that pull down from the attic and then retract after you're done using them. The site offers a set of instructions for installing the stairs. Assuming that you've recently purchased a set of Memphis Folding Stairs, review the instructions, paying particular attention to the integration of graphics and text, the legibility of the safety information, and the amount of information contained in each numbered step of the instructions. Look, too, at the printer-friendly version of the instructions. What changes would you make to this version? Present your findings in a 500-word memo to your instructor. (See Chapter 14 for a discussion of memos.)
