Clinton’s Appointments
President Clinton broke new ground by appointing women to offices traditionally considered to be male territory. Janet Reno served as attorney general, Laura Tyson as chair of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers, Sheila Widnall as secretary of the air force, and Madeleine Albright as secretary of state.
